A Review on 3D Architected Pyrolytic Carbon Produced by Additive Micro/Nanomanufacturing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Additive micro/nano-manufacturing of polymeric precursors combining with a subsequent pyrolysis step enables the design-controlled fabrication micro/nano-architected 3D pyrolytic carbon structures complex architectural details. Pyrolysis results in significant geometrical shrinkage structure, leading to structural dimension significantly smaller than resolution limit involved additive manufacturing technology. Combining material properties and architectures, architected exhibits exceptional properties, which are superior that bulk materials. This article presents comprehensive review processes materials, their corresponding demonstrated applications. Acknowledging “young” age field carbon, this also addresses current challenges paints future research directions field.

Resilient 3D hierarchical architected metamaterials.
Hierarchically designed structures with architectural features that span across multiple length scales are found in numerous hard biomaterials, like bone, wood, and glass sponge skeletons, as well as manmade structures, like the Eiffel Tower. It has been hypothesized that their mechanical robustness and damage tolerance stem from sophisticated ordering within the constituents, but the specific ...
متن کاملA review on 3D micro-additive manufacturing technologies
New microproducts need the utilization of a diversity of materials and have complicated three-dimensional (3D) microstructures with high aspect ratios. To date, many micromanufacturing processes have been developed but specific class of such processes are applicable for fabrication of functional and true 3D microcomponents/assemblies. The aptitude to process a broad range of materials and the a...
متن کاملHighly-stretchable 3D-architected Mechanical Metamaterials
Soft materials featuring both 3D free-form architectures and high stretchability are highly desirable for a number of engineering applications ranging from cushion modulators, soft robots to stretchable electronics; however, both the manufacturing and fundamental mechanics are largely elusive. Here, we overcome the manufacturing difficulties and report a class of mechanical metamaterials that n...
متن کاملPyrolytic carbon coated black silicon
Carbon is the most well-known black material in the history of man. Throughout the centuries, carbon has been used as a black material for paintings, camouflage, and optics. Although, the techniques to make other black surfaces have evolved and become more sophisticated with time, carbon still remains one of the best black materials. Another well-known black surface is black silicon, reflecting...
